Anjana wants glamourous roles
Even though her film assignments require her to be on the move constantly, Anjana Sukhani has no complaints. For her heart beats not only for beautiful locales but longs for a special someone to share the beauty with.
Says the sultry actress, “Although, I am not looking for love, I have a faint feeling that something is going to happen and someone will knock the doors of my heart soon.

I have wanted to be in a relationship for some time now. Lately I have been travelling a lot and whenever I am soaking in the beauty of picturesque locales, I long for someone special to share it with me. Somebody with whom, I can walk hand-in-hand on the beach.”
On-screen too the actress is all game for candyfloss romance. “I want to do romantic films, as people relate to them easily and these stay with them for a while. Also, I want to do glamourous roles, besides comedy. There is still time for doing off-beat films. Right now, I want to do full-on masala movies.”
The actress, who was noticed in the comic flick, Golmaal Returns, says, that after a lull, Bollywood has again opened its arms for female comedians. “There was a time when Sridevi and Juhi excelled in the comic genre, but then there was a lull because biggies like Akshay Kumar took the baton, offering a string of comic hits. Although things are changing but still the ratio of women comedians to men is very less.”
But isn’t comedy a difficult a genre for a newbie? “Acting is also about experimenting. No actor can do well in a particular genre without trying his or her hand at it. Sure, in comedy the timing has to be just perfect and that comes with experience,” says Anjana, who currently has two South films and two Bollywoods flicks, including Tum Milo Toh Sahi and another one opposite R Madhavan.
And with many Bollywood stars taking to TV, does she have any such plans as well? “I don’t, as my hands are full right now. But may be two-three years down the line, I would take up a fashion show as a judge, or a cookery show as I love to cook myself.”

The actress, however, rues that time constraints don’t leave her with much time to pursue her hobbies. “I like to experiment with cooking and whenever I am free, I read as well because it gives one a vision and helps one to enhance one’s power of observation of characters and people, something that comes in handy for an actor while getting into the skin of a character.”
As for sports she says, “I have never been a sporty person but recently, when my brother came home, he would watch basketball matches on TV every night and that got me interested in the game as well.” In fact, Anjana had recently gone to Chandigarh to support the cause of hockey. Talking about the condition of women’s sports in the country she says, “Whether it is women’s hockey or cricket, the condition is deteriorating because we take it for granted that women can’t do as well as male sportspersons.”
Hoping for things to change, Anjana, who was recently in the city to attend a family function adds, “One can’t deny that the inolvement of stars helps in bringing the issue to limelight. If I could contribute even a bit in bringing about a change I would be happy.”
